Suicide Bomber Attack Reported In North Afghanistan

A suicide bomber has detonated explosives at a checkpoint on the border between Afghanistan's Panjshir and Parwan provinces, killing at least 13 people.

RFE/RL's Radio Free Afghanistan quoted the Interior Ministry as saying at least six policemen were killed in the explosion.

Panjshir Province deputy police chief Najim Khan said at least seven civilians were also killed in the attack.

Reports said many people were wounded in the attack but no precise figures were available.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed his group was responsible for the attack.
