The European Union is considering placing sanctions on Russian state-controlled media Russia Today (RT) Balkans, which broadcasts programs in the Serbian language, diplomatic sources told RFE/RL on April 23. The sources said the European Commission is in the process of preparing a new package of sanctions against the Kremlin because of its aggression against Ukraine. According to the sources, the preliminary list of new sanctions also includes "extension of the list of media whose broadcasting is prohibited, including Russia Today Balkans."
