BISHKEK -- An official from Microsoft says more than 90 percent of the software programs used on computers in Kyrgyzstan are believed to be illegal copies.
Speaking to journalists in Bishkek on February 28, Microsoft's representative for Central and Eastern Europe, Yevgeny Danilov, said that the U.S.-based Microsoft firm is ready to set up offices in Kyrgyzstan -- but only on condition that Kyrgyz lawmakers adopt legislation curbing and preventing software piracy in the Central Asian country.
Microsoft's operating software is used on the vast majority of the world's computers.
