China Pledges Support For Kyrgyz Infrastructure Projects

BISHKEK -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi says Beijing will continue to provide Kyrgyzstan with "all kinds of support" for Kyrgyz infrastructure projects.

Wang made the comments to journalists in Bishkek after meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Erlan Abdyldaev.

Wang stressed that Chinese money was being provided for Kyrgyz projects without any "additional conditions" and "on the basis of equal partnership."

Chinese investors are currently involved in the construction of Kemin-Datka electric power line and reconstruction of the Bishkek-Torugart highway.

Negotiations are also being held on Beijing's possible participation in the construction of a China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway line and the building of a hydropower station on the Saryjaz River in Kyrgyzstan's north.

Wang and Abdyldaev also discussed the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Bishkek, scheduled for this fall.
