Georgian Police Fire Tear Gas To Repel Protesters From Presidential Palace
Georgian riot police used tear gas, pepper spray, and water cannon to repel anti-government protesters from the country's presidential palace. The clashes erupted in Tbilisi on October 4 after a large demonstration on the day of local elections. Opposition leaders used the vote to try to reinvigorate protests against the ruling Georgian Dream party which it has accused of being pro-Russian and authoritarian.
