Bosnia-Herzegovina has stepped up security measures amid what the government said were ''growing concerns over potential repercussions'' stemming from the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Security Minister Nenad Nesic on October 19 reassured the public that the authorities were prepared to face any challenges. Several European countries, including France, Austria, and neighboring Slovenia, have also raised their terrorism-threat levels. Around half of Bosnia's 3.3 million people are Muslim, a large majority being moderate in their religious beliefs, although some Bosniaks were radicalized by foreign fighters during the 1992-95 war.
