An Al-Qaeda-linked group has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that targeted an army recruiting center in Baghdad earlier this week.

The Islamic State of Iraq said in a statement that the bombing targeted what it called "Shi'ite apostates who were selling their faith in a war against Sunnis."

The Islamic State of Iraq is an umbrella organization made of Sunni insurgent groups, including Al-Qaeda's Iraq branch.

At least 58 army recruits and soldiers were killed and 130 injured by the attack in Baghdad on August 17.
