Kyrgyzstan Shuts Down Website That Posted Kazakh Jihadist Video

Authorities in Kyrgyzstan have closed down the website Kloop.kz for posting a video that showed Kazakh children who were living in areas in Syria under the control of the Islamic State militant group.

On December 15, ProHost, the server for Kloop.kz, sent the website a message informing the site that Kyrgyzstan's state communications site had ordered the site be shut down.

Authorities in Kazakhstan were angered when Kloop.kz posted a report including the video on its website in late November.

The video shows young Kazakh children threatening to kill non-Muslims.

Kazakhstan has blocked sites that contain the video and moved quickly to pressure Kyrgyz authorities into blocking Kloop.kz.

The leadership at the website has vowed to continue working but it remained unclear how they would be able to post material.
